I'm only just launching my business, do I really need a signature?

New companies are often keen to get started and make money and often give little or no thought to their corporate identity, thinking that this is just a subject for the big boys with thousands of dollars to spend. As there is always things to do when launching a new venture, the design of an appropriate logo and corporate identity often gets put to one side. However, this short sightedness can in many cases, be a costly mistake made in a hurry and regretted in leisure.

In most cases a new business is in competition with established corporations from day one. A high quality signature is one of the simplest and quickest ways to show that your company is professional and means business right from the start.

The first job of many new businesses is to attract new clients, often away from the competition who are well established. A distinctive logo makes your Company stand out from the crowd and then its image
sticks in peoples minds. Once in this position it is much easier to remember your Company than by it’s name alone.

What Makes a Great Business signature Design?

A nifty looking business signature is just not enough if you cannot have it printed nicely and clearly on your stationary or business card. Some of the things that make a great signature are:

Visibility : Stand out from the crowd, its surroundings, and competition. As unique as your fingerprint. A memorable identification is necessary for a great signature.

Simplicity : A logo, monogram or symbol that is easy to memorize. It should never be too complex. The signature has to be easily recognized and identified. Its indeed difficult to design a simple logo..

Timeless : A great signature design stands past its time frame. The user should not be able to figure out when the signature was made. In other words this signature design should look good still five, ten, or fifteen years from now.

Colour : Selecting proper colours for a signature design can make or break a signature. Each colour stands for a meaning in the real world. For example red might stand for heat, passion, love, desire, danger, etc. Keep the colours appropriate to your business.

Flexible : Your signature should be quite flexible and transformable. The signature should be easy to transform from one size to another. It should also be very simple to change the colour from full colour to black and white for faxing.

Vector Designed : A vector signature is one that will never distort. With a vector format signature you can make it as small as a pin cap or as big as a billboard and the signature will never distort. It is a key element for consistent identity.
